my ideal type of character to play as in jrpgs is always someone who's either weapons-based but has some spells or equally balanced between weapons and magic, so that's what i'd go with if i could! buuuut if it's really between the two, then i'd probably go with weapons. i think i'm just more the type who'd want to rush in and beat the enemy five ways to sunday instead of hanging in the back... i'm not patient enough to sit there and concentrate with spells haha.
