I'm such a homebody, ugh. I've moved to several different houses but always within the same general area of Ontario. I have a lot of friends who frequently travel or came to Canada as University exchange students but have never personally left North America.
I haven't traveled too far from home in the short term, either, tbh! We went on a road trip to South Carolina (to visit my friend's grandparents) the year before I started University, but that wasn't much of a culture shock WAIT NO I forgot about the political culture shock. Her grandparents (who were pretty hardcore republicans, from what I gathered) offered to take us to a Tea Party rally a few hours away (it was a march against health care reform) so we could see what it was like, but we opted not to go. We ended up watching it on the news and it was surreal, as my only frame of reference was Canada's health care system.
On the weather side of things, though, we… apparently picked a week in February where it snowed in almost all of the states… So it was typical Canadian spring weather there. My friends swam in the ocean anyway and got a lot of funny looks from the locals, who were all decked out in winter coats, haha.
I'd love to see more of Canada - we've done a lot of hiking and camping in Ontario, but I'd like to visit the east and west coasts. There are a ton of other continents and countries I'd like to eventually visit, too, especially Scotland (I have a lot of family there on my dad's side) and the UAE (one of my close friends moved there a few years ago).
