I've lived in a large city in Canada all my life. When I was 15, I went to Europe for the first time with my family and we visited the tiny little farming villages in northern Poland where my parents grew up. I think it was a combination of being exhausted from traveling and the shock of how different things were, but I remember crying because of it haha. It also happened when we went to visit some family friends in a small western Ukrainian village... It was definitely a very eye-opening trip for me.
