Welcome to DISCUSSION!

Hi, everyone! Once a week, I'm going to give you a topic. All players need to do is give their opinions/stories/comments on said topic. There's nothing really formal about this, but you'll get cards for answering regardless. There's no requirement about how big or detailed of an answer you give, but try to avoid one word answers! (This is about talking, after all)

This week's topic is SCHOOL UNIFORMS.

A question you could answer (but are not limited/required to) is what series has the coolest uniform?

You'll get 2 regular cards and 1 puzzle card for commenting. Prizes will be distributed throughout the week and this game ends on Tuesday, August 19th at 11:59 MST.

Sorry about the delay! I've had some serious internet and RL issues this week. Prizes will be given out for the last discussion as well as this one when the site is back!

I generally don't care one way or the other about school uniforms. They're just sorta something that's there, y'know? But I guess if I had to pick favorites from all the stuff I've watched and read... I kinda really like the Vampire Knight ones. They stand out as a little less generic than most others, just from the design. But I also like the uniforms from 11eyes as well, since they look more lolita meets maid outfit than school a uniform.

As someone who wore School Uniforms for years, anime tends to make them look overly ridiculous! So Its kidna hard to say which I like more, because a lot of the cute ones are just out of the question except for the Cosplay and Cafes in Japan for that hahaha. Um... I did think the Uniforms in Sailor Moon were really cute (the short tops!), I also liked the Orange ones in the first Yugioh series ^o^ The color scheme is so bright and out there hahaha!

This question stumped me for a while because all uniforms sort of blend together for me as just another seifuku or gakuran or blazer set or whatever. If I had to pick a favorite, it's probably the student council uniforms from Shinshi Doumei Cross! They're individually tailored to suit each council member, which is pretty neat. I also like the black/white design because it's really striking.

Aiden and I have also agreed that Ouran, despite being one of the most glamorous anime schools, has quite possibly some of the least flattering uniforms ever. Those bright yellow poofy dresses... why.

generally i really enjoy school uniforms since idk they're cute to look at! sailor fukus are god's gift to mankind, fight me. and i even like those military esque boys uniforms? i guess you'd call it, with the collars that close all the way up to the top? those are cool! but yeah i don't really know what series has the coolest, i like anything that incorporates those styles really (i think i find blazers kind of boring... i wonder what series made me think that). but i also like the girls' uniform from tokimeki 2 and kaminomi have because they're pretty... unique, capes and puff sleeves ftw. i also really like the cardcaptor uniform because fuck those hats are adorable. LMFAO... yeah rambles

even though i'm not sure if you could call it a school uniform since everyone seems to wear just whatever the heck they feel like at that school, i think it still looks enough like the traditional ones to pick it.. so in that case it'd have to be the one akari wears from genei wo kakeru taiyou, it's so cute.. i love the colors and the ruffles and the striped socks really make it, tbh.

(of course i'd pick a magical girl series)

I like the uniforms in persona 3. Specifically speaking I like the winter ones a lot... I may be biased for soejimas art :'( the summer uniforms they wear are cute too. aw yeah uniforms

Thinking about it now I don't usually notice school uniforms in anime unless they're like. Horrendously ugly or something HAHA. I wouldn't call it the coolest but I always liked ef's uniforms, but I'm probably just biased since I love that series a lot......

I personally loved my own highschool's uniform so much that animanga uniform seemed dull to my eye!!

BUT if I had to mention a few, I cannot deny that Haruhi Suzumiya's uniform is TOO recognizable (and perhaps the trademark of anime school uniforms). Another one would be Code Geass's ! They're very recognizable too despite the series not exactly focusing on the school itself...

I don't really know what else to say.... but oh !! I really really like school sports uniforms in animanga!! Inazuma Eleven has really really nice designs!

I LOVE THE INAZUMA DESIGNS i'm a big fan of soccer outfits too.

I don't watch enough school anime that actually focuses on school, or all of the uniforms just sort of blend into one big blah mass of the same thing. But since I have to choose, I really like the uniforms from Medaka Box (excepts Medaka's). I like both the student council's and the regular students uniforms (although, they're technically the same). And I like Uotani's Yankee length uniform skirt from Fruit's Basket.

On a side note, prize for outfit that could be mistaken as a uniform even though I'm pretty sure your school doesn't have uniforms goes to: Yuno Gasai! I just kept assuming that it was a uniform, but nobody in the classroom wears anything even remotely uniform-ish besides Yuno...

I am not really into the whole school uniform thing. But the firs thing that comes in my mind is the uniform from School Rumble.

While not quite a "proper" uniform, I have fallen in love with the Yanki style. The hyper modified school uniforms worn by the likes of Mondo from Dangan Ronpa and Kuwabara from Yu Yu Hakusho and Jotaro from JoJo's Bizarre Adventures. I really find the different ways they have modified and gone against the code to be very interesting and aesthetically pleasing. So much so that I'm going to be coplaying Mondo here. I've spent the last 3 months hand embroidering the coat/jacket and have another two parts left to enbroider on it!

In other, non-school related things, being former Army myself, I can't go wrong with a military uniform. I especially love the uniforms from Pumpkin Scissors. Alice's uniform especially

the female uniforms at ludwidge in pandora hearts are actually quite cute... it's the first one that came to mind, but otherwise i don't really care for uniforms.

reading over the comments as well and i do agree that the student council uniforms in shinshi doumei cross are really nice--! i don't run into very many series where it's not against the school rules to alter your school uniform, so it's a very nice change. :>

I think the most special uniforms I've seen so far come from Mahouka! The optional decorations are so pretty.

The Mana Khemia and Aphorism uniforms are quite cute too!

Uh I don't pay attention to school uniforms, normally, so I guess the only one I really remember right now is the one from Persona 4.

i generally don't pay that much attention unless they're ridiculous and/or hideous (example: the overly embellished starry sky uniforms). the simpler the better i think... girls always look cute in sailor fuku and gakuran are always cute on boys :I i like persona 4's uniforms and, randomly, the st. lulim's girls' school uniforms from strawberry panic... trashy yuri show that it was...

I can take or leave school uniforms; I forget where I learned that they're different lengths/styles depending on what year you are in school, but I remember thinking that was cool at the time. Probably the first anime I watched where I was aware of school uniforms as a cultural whatsit was Yu Yu Hakusho, because it gets commented on so much!

I'm not too fond of sailor uniforms, but the blazer style uniforms are usually pretty cute no matter what show or game they're from. I have a soft spot for Persona 3's uniforms, too.

my favourite uniform is definitely the persona 4 version! I DON'T KNOW MAN, I JUST LOVE THE DESIGNS... maybe i have a weakness for houndstooth. rise wears it the best, imo!

I really don't have any strong opinion on any school uniforms. I can't think of any in particular that have really stood out to me, but just to mention one... I think Puella Magi Madoka Magica has some pretty cute uniforms.

i'm a sucker for the tsukimihara uniforms from fate/extra because you get the western-styled ones in f/e and you get gakuran and seifuku in ccc! other than that, i very fond of the p3 uniforms (more than the p4 ones)! they're very sleek and have their individual touches for different characters and i really like that sort of detail.

when it comes to school uniforms i like anything fancy-ish, like some others have said i like shinshi doumei cross's uniforms (especially ushio, rock it girl) and also the uniforms in (like someone ELSE said, sort of) stopani!

p4's are good too...........i guess i'm gonna just steal everyone else's answers idk

OH also despite the blinding teal, mahouka's uniforms appeal to me, too, but that's probably because teal is my fave color

I honestly don't pay much attention to uniforms! So I don't have a fave, nor are there any that stick in my memory as 'memorable'... The only time I ever really take notice is when they're silly. Like magical girl anime/shojo were the uniforms are so short they would make a stripper blush with how much skin they show! Or High School of the Dead! Those uniforms were just... there is no point to them!
