Welcome to DISCUSSION!

Hi, everyone! Once a week, I'm going to give you a topic. All players need to do is give their opinions/stories/comments on said topic. There's nothing really formal about this, but you'll get cards for answering regardless. There's no requirement about how big or detailed of an answer you give, but try to avoid one word answers! (This is about talking, after all)

This week's topic is JRPG CLASSES.

A question you could answer (but are not limited/required to) is DO YOU LIKE HEALERS OR TANKS MORE. Or something like "I think I'd be a really good ninja in Log Horizon!"

You'll get 2 regular cards and 1 puzzle card for commenting. Prizes will be distributed throughout the week and this game ends on Tuesday, September 23rd.

i like basically any class that isn't super fragile... i mostly like to play healers and just heal everything to shit but i'm okay with tanks too if they have tons of hp and then i just try to heal inbetween battles LMFAO i just like to play it on the cautious side i'm the kind of person that saves thrice because what if i didn't save the game... this even reflects on my choice in classes apparently

Unfortunately, I haven't played that many JRPGs because the only game system I own other than my computer (which has Aion btw) is a 2DS. However, I have played a billion years of actual sit down dice rolling RPGs. Palladium Fantasy, Rifts, Vampire the Masquerade, 7th Seas, Dungeons and Dragons. The list could go on for a while.

In the past, I was pretty much the "designated magic user". Mostly because I was the only female to play and also because I know how to maximize magic's effectiveness in combat situations. AKA: when in doubt, fireball. After becoming a medic in the US Army, my new position on most game teams was "Cleric/healer" because I had working knowledge of healing in combat situations.

However, I'm lucky to have a small group now where I can play whatever the heck I want! It's nice!

On a small side note, I have two characters I play on and off on Aion. One is...a cleric. Yeah. I was first starting out and I picked a character I know would be asked into almost any party. The newest one is a Gunslinger, which is just cool.

KATY I PLAY MMORPGS WITH YOU i am so unsurprised by your answer..............i'm crying

FOR THE LONGEST TIME I've loved debuff/buff support classes to death. You can play strategically and it's the best. Use a spell and suddenly the dude takes x2 damage feels good.

Recently I've started to like knight/warrior/tank classes more. Charging into stuff is fun and oddly satisfying LMFAO. Tanks are my favorite because you aren't even expected to move once all the enemies are aggroed I'll just go make tea or something in the middle of combat fuck yeah tanks.

wow this is such a nerdy answer im so sorry

b....oring...ly i like hero classes? i think? whatever the protag is probably because i can use them to date people 85% of time. LMFAO IRONIC BUT YOU CAN ALWAYS GO HAREM ROUTE WITH THE LADIES IN A JPRG. my lust can't be tamed

but beyond that i don't pay attention. just don't die and you're okay in my books

To be honest, I like doing a lot of physical combat in my games, especially in my fighting games, but in most of my JRPGs, I tend to enjoy playing the magic users more honestly, and in MMOs I really like red mages...

I'll be a bit different than everybody else and say I vastly prefer playing super aggro characters! For example, I played a lancer in Mabinogi and I always default to paladins/rune knights in RO haha. To me it's not an MMO unless I'm charging in there like a dumbass while trying to click as fast as possible.

HAHA omg i am the worst at jrpgs except for kingdom hearts which i am only good at because BUTTON MASHING.

with that being said I guess I prefer tanks?? because then I can just kind of go at it and not have to worry about losing health while i cast spells or whatever. I want to just hack and slash while someone stands on the side and heals me when necessary.

I'm also lazy and usually end up playing as the protagonist anyway and I feel like they're usually tank-y.

I am mixed on what classes I like. When I play games ,I tend to keep one healer, one sword, one distance and then someone else.

ATM for example on Bravely Default, I got technically: white magic, black magic, theif, and brawler. However, most are actually that money class (what do you call it again?) but you can still have them have magic and such.

But, I do like to dab and mix around from time to time, so I dont have a set group I like.

I don't... play jrpg's, for the most part. I not really into things like the Tales of or Final Fantasy franchises or any of that. Like I'm sure I'd like the characters but the game play always bores me because it never seems fast paced enough for me. I'm very much a hack and slash kind of button mashing gal.

Though I can say that I play MMO's (which I'm sure I have said before lol) and I always pick the really glassy characters that die fast if you don't learn how to play them. Like mages/casters/whatever you want to call them. I also like tanky healing classes a lot, because you're very essential to a party that way. In Guild Wars 2 my favorite class is the Elementalist, which is this class where you're both damage and heals but it's incredibly hard to juggle between the 4 elements (fire, water, air, earth) since they all do something vastly different. Fire is your basic dps element while water is for heals and air/earth are immobilizing with blindness or bleeding damage.

I guess basically I want to say I like the classes that have the best roles in a party?

but what if i like healer tanks like estelle the most

okay no more seriously in jrpgs like tales i like playing the melee types or a mix of melee and magic (like estelle WHOOPS). idk i just like being able to charge in and stupidly attack things to death until i get myself killed from not paying attention to my hp. also i don't like getting stuck with healing duty LMFAO like if it's an emergency i'll heal... but god why are the computers so stupid can't they just take care of themselves. i don't really play mmos with classes (or mmos in general) but i usually like classes like lancers, monks, dark mages, summoners, etc.

if .hack's the world r:1 was real though i would sign up to be a twin blade or wavemaster in a heartbeat. probably twin blade actually. i'm just really upset that cyber connect still hasn't made a real version of the world i would literally give up going outside and functioning as an adult to play the world.

Admittedly, I don't play a lot of JRPGs. The only one that I recall playing was Final Fantasy - but I really want to play some of the Tales games. My favorite, so far, is definitely the magic-users / mages.

It's too hard for me to pick just one class. In jrpgs, I get the most fun building a balanced team. Almost every class has it's advantages (except Blue Mages in the Final Fantasy series), so just picking one is hard!

Paladins. (They kind of tend to change up depending on where and what you're playing, though.)

Well darn... when it comes to things like this I like my hunter/ranger/archer classes... But since I don't think they are typical for jrpgs... I'll go with the white mage/healer/cleric type. ^^ I'm either a 'stand back and shoot from afar/send your pet out to kill" type or the "spam heal ALL the people!" type!

I DON'T KNOW WHICH I PREFER TANK OR HEALER-WISE and tbh it all depends on the mmo i'm playing? i... don't play many jrpgs anymore, admittedly! at least, not many that let me change class and choose which to use. i've kept to mmos, bl2, and l4d2 since all i really have to play games on is steam on my laptop and i don't play ro2 much anymore...

for example: iii really like the bard class in eden eternal because it gives me the option to be super aggressive in both healing and attacking (as long as i keep my cure spell at the same level i'm at, of course), with the added benefit that i can heal other people too regardless of whether or not they're in my party! the bard class in eden is also packed with buffer spells, so. bard class 101: dis shit is op. before i got hooked on tera online, i was pretty addicted to eden and once i was at a high enough level as a bard, i switch over to knight/martial artist/all the other classes. ...i always came back to the bard class, though. i was hooked.

and now i'm running around in tera online as an elin berserker. 8) the sad thing is, if there was anything like the bard class in tera online i would've been on that so fast... alas!

the most recent game where i could choose would have to be xenosaga though, and i very much enjoyed playing as whatever kos-mos and shion classify as!

i usually favor mage type characters because they can deal lots of damage with offensive spells and usually have healing abilities too... i'm not really the type to bulk up on defense and just go all out instead. my buff characters never get used.... sorry kanji............

I love jrpgs. I love tanks and healers equally, though when you can get away with just having a bunch of tanks or healer tanks in any given game it's super fantastic. When I played MMOs, I only did healers tho these days I'd probably be more inclined to tank than anything else.

Or lord, I don't even know about classes. I always thought magicians were really cool! Can I be a magician with a sword? That'd be sweet, I want to be that.

MAGES!!! ALL KIND OF MAGES, REALLY.
WHITE MAGES, BLACK MAGES, RED MAGES, BLUE MAGES....
White Mages/Herbalist classes are my top faves and I always, ALWAYS end up being one or liking them the most if it's a game series!!!

I am a healer all day erry day. It's my thing. I like that power and I probably shouldn't have it as much as I do. Even in MMOs, I'm the healer first and then anything else second. (I love doing this in Toontoon Online because I always carry way too much Toon-Up (Healing Items) and everyone loves me for it).

Whenever I'm faced with making a character in an RPG my first reaction is always to go with a healing class. Thing is I normally solo so it can be quite tough, so I usually find myself playing ranged characters like archers which is a lot of fun too!

That being said, occasionally it's really satisfying to play a tank character or one that can deal a lot of damage because it's so satisfying to take hits that would normally defeat you. I also really like games where you can switch classes and try a bit of everything, or even mix and match classes and skills to really get a good strategy down.

Healers! I would absolutely be a healer if I had to pick a JRPG class and in MMOs I've almost always chosen the healer as my main character. They're the cutest. ♥

I have totally nothing with them. I am more the type to play the characters that can smash everything with their bare hands.

haha don't play mmos with me because i just pick stuff that looks cool. my very first (or second?? whatevs) character on guild wars was a mesmer/ranger because mesmers were awesome looking and ranger skills meant you could have a pet. i was the most badass mesmer with a badass warthog partner.

but yeah i tend to prefer long-range and/or magical types because they're usually neater, but sometimes it is nice to just be a boring old warrior and then run in and smash everything. anything that causes big chaotic damage like elemental mages too haha.
