I was born and raised in Pennsylvania, though my mom tried to transplant us into Florida when I was younger. She managed to succeed eventually, where I lived there for 11 years. There wasn't too much different about Florida in comparison to Pennsylvania, except more warm days and more sunshine. And a distinct lack of seasonal change, really. Okay, not really. You eventually notice it! It's just subtle changes and you can mostly tell when it's winter and when it's summer because it's HOTTER in the summer.
However, in June I moved to Texas. This is my first experience of culture shock! It's hard for me to explain how life in Texas is so different, other than to say I'm very, very bored. In Florida I got used to there always being something to do, since there are so many tourist-y things. I lived in an area that it was only an hour long drive to Orlando, so we normally had year long passes to places like Universal Studio's, Seaworld or Busch Gardens. We'd go to to a theme park at least five times a year, or go to tourist trap places like John's Pass, visit the beaches, or go to any one of the numerous aquariums. And while in Florida we had all manner of Hispanic life, there wasn't a lot of places actually geared toward it since the general populace of Florida is the elderly or tourists. Here in Texas... it's hard to go a block without seeing a Mexican restaurant or something Mexican themed. Walking into places like Walmart, you see items not typically sold in stores in other parts of the country. I've never seen cactus being sold in the produce department before! It's crazy. XD There's also all manner of Spanish being spoken around me that I don't understand. I've never had that before, and so far it's been a hard change for me on top of being ridiculously bored. Plus the stereotype about Texan's being huge football fanatics is true! I'm in hell now that football season is upon us...
Task 2
