Discussion 33

Ahhh I keep dropping the ball on Discussion, my bad. This week was pretty hectic irl. But here's the new round!

Welcome to DISCUSSION!

Hi, everyone! Once a week, I'm going to give you a topic. All players need to do is give their opinions/stories/comments on said topic. There's nothing really formal about this, but you'll get cards for answering regardless. There's no requirement about how big or detailed of an answer you give, but try to avoid one word answers! (This is about talking, after all)

This week's topic is REMAKES.

A question you could answer (but are not limited/required to) do you wish one of your favorite shows or games would get a remake? Or are you tired of the 4985345 old movies currently getting remade right now and wish they'd make something original? Do you actually like any remakes better than the original? Or is there a specific remake you wish had never happened?

You'll get 2 regular cards and 1 puzzle card for commenting. Prizes will be distributed throughout the week and this game ends on Saturday, May 9th to make up for me being late again, though the next round will HOPEFULLY be up on its proper day Thursday.

For Japanese remakes, I don't really mind. TBH I don't like a lot of 'based off of' dramas though, despite everyone loving them (dramas based off animes and comics.) they never seem that good, and always follow romantic themes. As for uh, Anime remakes, there have been some very good ones (Though I guess not 'remake' but a lot of the old Tatsunoko series getting gritty reboots and continuations and retellings... I tend to like those hahaha.)

Uh, for other things, I don't mind them much. such as Western movies and things. (I liked the Evil Dead Reboot, and such.) UH Not very good at answering this I guess hahaha.

I really don't like remakes when it comes to animes. For every good remake (like the Z Gundam movies), there are a crap load of horrible remakes (like the Gatchaman 1994 OVAs). It always seems that my favorite series always get the bad remakes.

I really prefer for companies to leave old series alone if they can. I remember Tomino Yoshiyuki wanting to do a remake of and pitched Sunrise the remake for Space Runaway Ideon a couple of years back. Even though I like the Be Invoked movie, I would like to see a more corrected ending like what Tomino did the Z Gundam movies.

When it comes to video games, I like remakes if they add something to it as long as it doesn't alter the plot line too much.

I love anime that go back and try to stick to manga canon (Like FMA Brotherhood and Sailor Moon Crystal) Some anime back in the day diverged so far from the manga canon and that made me so irritated. So yes, I'm okay with remakes, so long as they are following the manga.

I'd love a new Kirby series; not that anything is wrong with the last one, but I'd like a reboot a bit closer to the spirit of the games.
