It looks like Inuyasha is causing some trouble for poor Ranma... Well, while they get it sorted out, can you help me? I'm thinking of this old series but I can't remember its name...

Throwback Thursday (or #tbt) commemorates the anime, manga, and games of yore. (Yore = original debut in 2001 or earlier.) Based on the provided clue, can you tell me the title of what I'm thinking of and its original Japanese release year? I'll give you 3 random single cards for your trouble!
This game is the first in a series of Japanese survival horror games. The protagonist is searching for her brother in a haunted mansion after he goes missing. As the game progresses she discovers that the mansion is haunted by a vengeful spirit who kidnapped her brother because of his strong resemblance to the spirit's dead lover. The protagonist must rescue her brother from clutches of evil and free the spirit of her woe.

This round will end October 23rd at 4:00PM EST.

Last round's answer: Hellsing, released in 1997.

( omikuji 09, special halloween edition )

At Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples in Japan, one will often find a site to purchase an omikuji, or a random fortune, for a small price. They hope to draw a blessing for the future, rather than a curse. Those who do draw a cursed slip tie it to a tree in hopes of negating their poor fortune ahead. But those who are blessed have much to look forward to... or so they say.

Maybe you're not superstitious, but a small offering will appease the Himitsu gods and maybe even grant you a blessing! But our omikuji will be slightly kinder than the ones at shrines. Anyway, here's how the game works:

1 card will buy you 1 fortune, so it must be a single card. You can only buy 1 fortune per round. Your fortune will be determined by a randomizer. Simple enough, right? Here are the possible results:

大吉 (daikichi, "great blessing") - 8 random candies
中吉 (chuukichi, "average blessing") - 6 random candies
小吉 (shoukichi, "small blessing") - 4 random candies
半吉 (hankichi, "half-blessing") - 2 random candies
半凶 (hankyou), "half-curse") - You don't win anything... but you do get to keep the card you used to buy your fortune. Basically, nothing happens. :,)
凶 (kyou, "curse") - You don't win anything, and you lose the card you used to purchase your fortune. :(
大凶 (daikyou, "great curse") - You don't win anything, you lose the card you used to purchase your fortune, and the next time you play, your entry will cost you an extra card. Bummer! Better tie that puppy to the nearest tree for better luck next time.

The cards used to purchase fortunes will all go into the Grabby Hands pile (unless you draw the half-curse fortune). If you drew a great curse in the last round you played in, please note that in your comment; we'll operate on the honor system since I will forget after awhile. :)

This round will end October 22nd at 6:00PM EST.

Risa Koizumi has never been the best speller... or reader... or mathematician... hey, give the girl a break, school is boring and homework is just taking time away from more important things, like video games! Anyway, Risa needs our help spelling out some words for her homework.

This game is similar to Collections in that we will be building a small "deck", in order to complete a puzzle. Every two weeks I'll put up the name of a series and a character from that series, and players can contribute a card starting with one of the letters in the words until we have it all spelled out. For instance, if the word is "as", one person can contribute aikido05 and another person can contribute seas02. A deck may not be used more than once per round, and you can only contribute one card per week. Please check the comments to make sure no one has claimed your letter or donated from that deck already before commenting!

You will lose the card you're contributing but in return you will receive 3 random single cards.

Uh-oh! Looks like Makoto Naegi's found himself in a bit of trouble with Monokuma once again, and to make matters worse, he's clumsily spilled all of his evidence on the courtroom floor. Help Makoto unscramble his clues and prove his innocence in the classroom trial or face an untimely and gruesome execution!

You will be provided with five words to unscramble with a given theme each week. For each correct answer, you will receive 1 random single card. If you manage to solve all five, you will receive 1 more random single and 1 random special, for a total of 6 possible singles and 1 special. The answers must be spelled correctly in order to win the prizes!

Last week's answers: Yuno Gasai, Kotonoha Katsura, Belarus, Lucy, Rolo Lamperouge. The culprit was Yuno... but maybe we should execute them all anyway just to be on the safe side.

This week's trial features When They Cry series characters. This round will end Saturday, October 18th, 12:01PM EST. All rounds in October will feature creepy crawly spooky themes :)

another apology, freebies, and an update

Hey everyone. I know I said in the trade comm two weeks ago that things would start looking up for me and I'd be more active, but after I came back from vacation work started kicking my ass twice as hard. I'm really sorry for my absence and I'm going to try to be up to snuff from now on, but please bear with me and if you notice it's been several days since I've replied to something just give me a gentle nudge via PM or private plurk ([plurk.com profile] togami) and I'll get on it. :)

That being said, a regular Liese!games schedule will be resuming today, with the Hangman's Gambit that was due yesterday and a brand NEW game for every other Sunday, Crossword every other Tuesday, Omikuji on Wednesdays, TBT on Thursdays, and of course Hangman's Gambit on Saturdays. I will be handing out the overdue rewards later this afternoon.

I've missed a Throwback Thursday and like 3 Omikujis haha so without further ado, here's a freebie activity to make up for it: just comment to this post for 10 random singles, OR 5 random puzzle cards, OR 5 random special cards. Specify which one you want or you're just going to get singles!! This freebie offer will close October 5th.
